The Drama Produce-rs 果然有戲: Inside KELLYHOSY's Hong Kong Solo Show

Act I [HKG] — Tiny Space Gallery, 27 March – 3 May 2026

Somewhere in Hong Kong, there's a lemon with someone's handwriting on it.

That's what five weeks of KELLYHOSY's The Drama Produce-rs leaves behind. Seven characters, a corner store on Tai Ping Shan Street, and the marks the gentlehumans made when they were handed a pen and invited to draw on the fruit. Small acts of mark-making. Small reliefs. The kind of thing you do when a painting finally says the thing you didn't have words for.

We opened on 27 March. You came. And that was The Drama Produce-rs — or, in the language it was always meant to inhabit: 果然有戲. Turns out — yes. There was drama. There was plenty of it.

Act I · [HKG] The Ingredients

This was always the first act of three.

Hong Kong was where the ingredients arrived — where seven characters made their debut at Tiny Space Gallery, took their positions on the wall, and invited the audience to recognise fragments of themselves in a basket of produce. The exhibition ran in two phases: Phase 1 introduced the opening cast (27 March – 10 April); Phase 2 escalated with new arrivals (11 April – 3 May). Each weekend, another protagonist stepped into the light.

And the gentlehumans — they didn't just look. They drew on the fruit. Visitors were invited to mark the produce directly: a small act of participation, a tiny release of the over-stimulation that made them need a corner store's worth of art in the first place.

That's the thing you don't get from a photograph. The show talked back.

What Five Weeks of The Drama Produce-rs Looks Like

KELLYHOSY is Malaysian-born, Hong Kong-based. Her work is rooted in psychedelic and naive art — she makes theatrical narratives from societal behaviours, turns urban rituals into stages for humour and pathos. The Drama Produce-rs is her debut solo exhibition. She introduced her practice to Hong Kong.

Hong Kong drew on her fruit.

Some of the gentlehumans took the characters home. Some stood in front of the pile of eggplants for longer than felt entirely normal — then took a photograph anyway, like they'd caught something they needed to keep. Some picked up a pen and left a mark on the produce, which is a strange thing to do in a gallery and also exactly the point.

The Drama Produce-rs doesn't explain the feeling. It just names it, puts it in a costume, and gives it a curtain call.

The Trilogy: Hong Kong → Berlin → Kuala Lumpur

Act I is done. The ingredients have been introduced.

Act II · [BER] The Cooking — The ingredients travel west. In a hot Berlin Schaufenster at Kalckreuthstraße 4, the trilogy enters its second act, in collaboration with Culterim. A three-part recipe, viewed behind glass. 15–24 July 2026.

Act III · [KUL] The Feast — KELLYHOSY is making a jam. Not the kind you spread on toast. Stay hungry. September 2026.

The Drama Produce-rs don't end here. They escalate — all the way to the table.
