Prints & Posters: What's the Difference?

Every KELLYHOSY piece starts life as an original painting. How it reaches your wall depends on the format you choose. Here's what changes from one format to the next, and why the price changes with it.

01 · The paper

Cotton that outlasts the trend cycle

Posters are printed on 230gsm fine art matte paper: smooth, natural and made for everyday walls in standard A3 and square sizes and easy-to-find frames.

Prints step up to 100% cotton paper that's acid- and lignin-free and museum-grade archival. Limited editions use Hahnemühle 310gsm matte.

02 · The ink

Pigment ink vs everyday printing

Most everyday printing uses dye inks: colour dissolved in liquid that soaks into the paper. They look bright on day one, but light breaks them down, so they fade faster on the wall.

Every KELLYHOSY poster and print uses pigment inks instead: tiny solid particles of colour that sit in the paper's surface and hold up to light far longer. Pair them with archival cotton paper and the gap widens: Hahnemühle rates pigment inks on its archival papers at more than 100 years of light stability.

03 · The hand

A signature from an actual hand

Posters carry the artist's digital signature.

Every open edition and limited edition print is signed by hand. Limited editions are numbered by hand too, in the order the orders come in.

04 · The number

When it's gone, it's gone

Posters and open editions stay in print for as long as the artwork is available.

Limited editions are a fixed run, and each one comes with a certificate of authenticity. Once an edition sells out, it is never printed again. That's what makes it collectable.
